PROJECT CASE STUDY
Vita Nova Biologics.
Wix to WordPress Migration, WooCommerce Development & Payment Integration. A focused Wix-to-WordPress migration for a Canada-focused product brand, creating a clean, minimal WooCommerce website with improved product presentation, localized branding, and a third-party payment solution.
01 / THE PROJECT
Project overview
Vita Nova Biologics previously had its website built on Wix. As the business evolved, the client wanted greater flexibility, better control over the website, and a platform that could more easily support its product and payment requirements.
After reviewing the available options, WordPress and WooCommerce were selected as the new platform.
The client wanted to retain the general direction of the existing website rather than create an unnecessarily complex redesign. The goal was to launch with a small, minimal, conversion-focused website that could provide a solid foundation for future expansion.
Existing content and design elements were reviewed and reused where appropriate, while imagery, presentation, product information, and visual elements were updated for the new WordPress website.
02 / THE BRIEF
Client requirements
The client needed a straightforward transition from Wix to WordPress without turning the project into an unnecessarily large website build.
The key requirements were:
- Move the website from Wix to WordPress
- Set up WooCommerce for product management
- Maintain elements of the existing visual direction
- Refresh outdated or unsuitable imagery
- Create a clean and minimal interface
- Clearly position the brand toward the Canadian market
- Add and organize products
- Set up product pricing and descriptions
- Integrate an alternative third-party payment solution
- Ensure responsive behavior across devices
- Complete basic homepage SEO
- Create promotional banners and supporting website graphics
03 / THE APPROACH
My recommendations
The client initially explored different platform options before deciding to move forward with WordPress.
I recommended keeping the first version of the website intentionally simple rather than overbuilding it.
The priority was to establish a professional WordPress foundation, present the products clearly, create a trustworthy Canadian-focused brand experience, and implement the functionality necessary to start operating the website.
This approach also provided greater flexibility for future product, content, SEO, and functionality expansion.
04 / THE EXECUTION
What I delivered
Wix to WordPress Migration
Moved the website away from Wix and rebuilt the required experience using WordPress.
Rather than simply copying the previous website page by page, the existing design and content were reviewed and adapted to work more effectively within the new WordPress environment.
Minimal Website Design
Created a clean and intentionally minimal interface based on the client’s requirement for a smaller initial website.
The design focused on clear messaging, straightforward navigation, product visibility, and removing unnecessary visual complexity.
Canada-Focused Presentation
The website needed to communicate its Canadian market focus immediately.
Canadian visual cues and localized messaging were incorporated strategically throughout the experience to reinforce market relevance and build familiarity with the intended audience without overwhelming the overall design.
WooCommerce Setup
Configured WooCommerce as the product management foundation of the website.
Products were organized and published with the necessary:
Product Titles · Pricing · Images · Descriptions · Product Information
The product presentation was kept straightforward and consistent with the minimal design direction.
Product Content
Prepared and structured product information for the new website, including product descriptions, pricing presentation, and supporting content.
The goal was to make individual products easier to understand while maintaining consistent presentation throughout the catalog.
Third-Party Payment Integration
A standard PayPal-based payment flow was not suitable for the project’s payment-processing requirements and product category.
To address this, a third-party payment solution was integrated with the WordPress/WooCommerce setup, allowing the client to use a payment workflow more appropriate for the business.
The integration was configured and tested as part of the website implementation.
Basic SEO Setup
Completed foundational SEO work for the initial website, primarily focused on the homepage and core website structure.
This included basic content optimization, page structure, headings, metadata-related setup, and other essential on-page considerations appropriate for the project’s initial scope.
Banners & Visual Updates
Created and implemented supporting website banners and updated visual assets where the existing Wix imagery was not suitable for the new website.
These changes helped establish a more consistent presentation across the rebuilt website.
Responsive Development
Optimized the website for desktop, tablet, and mobile to ensure that product content, navigation, banners, and key calls to action remained clear across different screen sizes.
Key Challenge
One of the main technical considerations was the payment workflow.
The business could not rely on a typical PayPal-based setup for its requirements, so the website needed an alternative payment approach that could work alongside the WooCommerce product experience.
The solution was to integrate a suitable third-party payment platform while keeping the customer journey simple and consistent with the rest of the website.
Another important consideration was avoiding unnecessary complexity. The client wanted a relatively small website at launch, so the project focused on building the right foundation rather than adding features that were not yet needed.
