01 / THE PROJECT

Project overview

Neptunia came with a very specific technical requirement. The client wanted their new WordPress website to be built using Themify. Elementor, WPBakery, and other page-building systems were not part of the approved development stack.

The client also supplied a reference website that represented the overall visual direction they wanted for their own company website. My responsibility was to study that reference, understand its structure and visual language, and translate the relevant ideas into a functional WordPress website built within the Themify ecosystem.

The client supplied the primary visual assets, while the actual page construction, styling, layout implementation, and required frontend coding were handled as part of the development process.

02 / THE BRIEF

Client requirements

The project had two particularly clear requirements:

1. Follow the supplied website reference for the visual direction.

2. Build the website specifically with Themify.

The broader requirements included:

  • Develop the website in WordPress
  • Use Themify as the required builder/framework
  • Avoid Elementor and other page builders
  • Follow the supplied visual reference
  • Adapt the reference for Neptune’s own company
  • Build the required website pages
  • Use the supplied imagery and assets
  • Recreate relevant layouts and visual patterns
  • Add custom frontend code where Themify alone was insufficient
  • Ensure responsive behavior across devices
  • Keep the website manageable through WordPress

03 / THE APPROACH

My recommendations

I began by reviewing the reference website and breaking its design into reusable components rather than treating it as a single static layout. This included analyzing:

Page Structure · Typography · Spacing · Imagery · Content Blocks · Navigation · Visual Hierarchy · Responsive Behavior

Those patterns were then adapted to Neptune’s own content and requirements. The objective was not simply to reproduce another website, but to translate the client’s preferred direction into a practical implementation that worked within their required Themify setup.

04 / THE EXECUTION

What I delivered

Themify-Based WordPress Development

Built the website using Themify according to the client’s technical requirements. This required working within a different development environment from the Elementor-based workflow commonly used across many WordPress projects. The website was structured so the client could continue working within the Themify ecosystem after delivery.

Reference-Based UI Implementation

Translated the client’s supplied reference into the Neptunia website. Relevant visual patterns were adapted for Neptune while maintaining consistency across the site’s pages and components.

Page Design & Development

Created the required website pages based on the agreed structure and reference direction. Each page was adapted around Neptunia own information rather than simply duplicating the reference page-by-page.

Custom HTML & CSS

Where the required design could not be achieved effectively through standard Themify controls alone, custom frontend code was used. Custom HTML and CSS helped provide more precise control over:

  • Layout structure
  • Spacing
  • Typography
  • Responsive behavior
  • Custom sections
  • Component styling
  • Visual details

This allowed the final implementation to remain within Themify while still meeting the visual requirements of the project.

Visual Asset Implementation

The imagery supplied for the project was prepared and incorporated throughout the website according to the required layouts. Visual presentation was adjusted where necessary to ensure that images worked consistently within the new page structures and responsive layouts.

Responsive Development

The website was adapted across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. Because a reference design does not automatically translate perfectly across every screen size, layouts were adjusted to maintain usability and visual consistency while preserving the intended design direction.

WordPress Content Management

Although custom frontend work was required, the website remained manageable through WordPress and Themify. This provided the client with the specific development environment they requested while avoiding unnecessary dependence on an alternative page builder.

Key Challenges

The main challenge was not simply recreating a visual reference; it was doing so within a predefined technical stack. The client specifically required Themify, which meant the implementation could not rely on Elementor or another builder simply because it might have been more familiar or convenient. The development approach therefore combined:

WordPress + Themify + Custom HTML/CSS

to achieve the required result.

This required adapting the design to the strengths and limitations of the selected builder while using custom code to bridge the gaps where necessary.

Client Direction & Collaboration

The client had a clear idea of both the visual direction and the technology they wanted to use.

Rather than replacing those decisions with my preferred tools, I worked within their requirements and determined the most practical way to deliver the requested experience.

This made the project an exercise in both frontend implementation and technical adaptability.

05 / THE STACK

Tools & technologies

  • WordPress
  • Themify
  • HTML5
  • CSS3
  • JavaScript
  • Custom Frontend Code
  • Responsive Web Development

06 / THE OUTCOME

Outcome & results

Neptunia received a complete WordPress website built in the Themify environment the client requested.

I translated the supplied reference into a responsive website tailored to Neptune’s content and visual requirements, using custom HTML and CSS where additional frontend control was needed.

The project demonstrates my ability to work beyond my usual WordPress stack and adapt to a client’s required technology — whether that means Elementor, GeneratePress, custom PHP, or in this case, Themify — while still delivering a consistent production website.
