PROJECT CASE STUDY
Natural Essence.
From Animated Landing Page to Product-Focused WooCommerce Store. A WordPress project that evolved from an immersive, animation-led product landing page into a more practical e-commerce experience as the brand expanded its hair oil range and moved toward real-world market testing.
01 / THE PROJECT
Project overview
Natural Essence began as a small hair-care startup with a relatively focused product offering. During the initial stage, the objective was primarily to create an engaging marketing experience around the brand and its hair oil products.
The first version of the website was therefore developed as an animation-focused landing page rather than a conventional online store. The experience used product imagery and scroll-driven interactions to create a more immersive presentation. As visitors moved through the page, product bottles and supporting visual elements were animated to make the experience feel more dynamic and product-led.
However, the business requirements changed as the brand prepared to test a broader range of products. Instead of continuing with a highly animated single-product experience, the client decided that the website needed to become simpler, more scalable, and better suited to showcasing and selling multiple products. The project therefore evolved from a marketing landing page into a functional WordPress and WooCommerce store.
02 / THE BRIEF
Client requirements
The original requirement was to create a visually engaging landing page around the brand’s initial product offering. Rather than using a standard static product layout, the website incorporated animation throughout the scrolling experience. Product bottles and supporting elements responded as users moved through the page, helping create a more immersive presentation around the hair oil products.
The focus at this stage was:
Brand Introduction · Product Storytelling · Visual Engagement · Animation · Marketing
This worked well for the initial promotional concept but became less practical once the business needed to expand its product range.
The Requirement Changed
As Natural Essence progressed from its initial launch toward product testing, the client reconsidered the role of the website.
The business was still at an early stage, and the priority shifted toward testing different products and understanding customer response.
The client therefore wanted to:
- Reduce unnecessary animation
- Add more products
- Move beyond a single landing-page experience
- Create proper product pages
- Make product information easier to understand
- Introduce an e-commerce structure
- Keep the website manageable as the catalog expanded
- Maintain the existing brand identity
Instead of continuing to invest heavily in animation, the website needed to become a more practical business tool.
03 / THE APPROACH
My recommendations
The change in business direction required a change in website strategy. A heavily animated landing page can work effectively when a brand is promoting a very limited product range or a single campaign. Once multiple products are introduced, however, customers need faster access to product information, pricing, options, and purchasing actions.
I therefore adapted the website around a more product-focused structure while retaining the established visual identity.
The new priority became:
Products → Information → Pricing → Purchase
rather than animation for its own sake.
04 / THE EXECUTION
What I delivered
WordPress Development
Built and evolved the website within WordPress, adapting the original marketing experience as the client’s requirements changed. The website architecture was expanded from the initial landing-page format into a structure capable of supporting multiple products.
Animation-Led Initial Experience
Implemented the original interactive landing-page direction with scroll-based visual movement. Product bottles and supporting visual elements were incorporated into the experience to make the first version feel more dynamic and engaging.
WooCommerce Implementation
As the project expanded, WooCommerce was introduced to provide the foundation for the product catalog and e-commerce experience. Products could now be managed individually with their own information, pricing, imagery, and purchasing options.
Product Setup
Added and structured the expanding product range within the website. The product experience was designed to provide customers with clearer information while remaining visually consistent with the Natural Essence brand.
Website Content Writing
The client supplied the primary product imagery, while I handled the website copy required for the project. Content was written and structured from the ground up across the customer-facing experience, including:
- Homepage messaging
- Product-related copy
- Product descriptions
- Section content
- Calls to action
- Supporting marketing copy
- Website navigation messaging
The content was adapted as the project evolved from a marketing landing page into a broader e-commerce experience.
Brand Implementation
The existing brand direction and supplied visual assets were translated into the website interface. Typography, product imagery, sections, buttons, spacing, and supporting visual elements were structured to maintain a consistent identity as the website expanded.
Reduced Animation for Better Usability
As the product catalog grew, the animation strategy was deliberately simplified. Instead of allowing complex motion to dominate the shopping experience, animation became a supporting visual element. This helped make product discovery and purchasing more straightforward while preserving some of the personality established in the original concept.
Responsive Development
Both the marketing experience and later product-focused layouts were optimized across desktop, tablet, and mobile. Special attention was required for animated elements because interactions that work well on larger screens do not always translate effectively to smaller devices. The final responsive approach prioritized usability and product access.
Key Challenge
The biggest challenge was not technical implementation alone — it was adapting the website as the client’s business model evolved during the project. The initial website was designed around a small product offering and visual storytelling. The later requirement was fundamentally different: the client needed to test and sell a growing range of products.
That meant the website had to evolve from:
Animated Marketing Landing Page
to
Scalable Product & E-commerce Website
without losing the visual identity that had already been established. This required balancing animation, branding, content, product discovery, and e-commerce usability.

06 / THE OUTCOME
Outcome & results
Natural Essence evolved from an immersive promotional landing page into a more practical WordPress and WooCommerce website aligned with the startup’s changing business needs. The initial animation-heavy experience helped establish the product visually, while the later development phase introduced the structure needed to support a growing product catalog and real-world market testing.
The final direction created a better balance between brand personality, product presentation, content, usability, and e-commerce functionality. More importantly, the website was able to evolve alongside the business rather than locking an early-stage startup into a digital experience that no longer matched its priorities.
