01 / THE PROJECT

Project overview

Tools Tender already had an existing website, but the company was not satisfied with its overall design quality, structure, and presentation. To improve the experience, their UI/UX designer created a new design system and page layouts in Figma. I was brought into the project through the designer to turn those approved designs into a fully functional WordPress website.

The objective was very clear: the production website needed to follow the supplied Figma designs as closely as possible while remaining responsive, functional, manageable in WordPress, and optimized for real-world performance. This required close collaboration between development, UI/UX, content, and SEO throughout the project.

02 / THE BRIEF

Client requirements

The company already had the core creative direction prepared, so the project was primarily focused on accurate execution.

The key requirements included:

  • Rebuild the existing website based on new Figma designs
  • Follow the approved UI/UX as accurately as possible
  • Maintain consistent typography, colors, spacing, and components
  • Use the supplied content and visual assets
  • Create responsive layouts for different screen sizes
  • Configure WooCommerce functionality
  • Set up the required payment methods
  • Improve website performance and page speed
  • Implement technical SEO requirements
  • Support SEO content and blog implementation
  • Work collaboratively with the company’s UI/UX and SEO teams

03 / THE APPROACH

My recommendations

My responsibility was primarily to bridge the gap between design and production. The UI/UX designer provided the design direction and Figma layouts, while the company supplied the required content and imagery. I translated those resources into the actual WordPress website.

Throughout development, I collaborated with the designer to resolve practical implementation details, refine responsive behavior, maintain visual consistency, and ensure that the final website stayed aligned with the approved design.

04 / THE EXECUTION

What I delivered

Figma to WordPress Development

Converted the supplied Figma layouts into a functional WordPress website. The implementation focused on maintaining the original design language across:

Typography · Colors · Spacing · Sections · Components · Imagery · Content Hierarchy

Rather than loosely interpreting the mockups, the goal was to reproduce the approved interface as closely as practical within a responsive production environment.

UI/UX Collaboration

Worked directly with the project’s UI/UX designer throughout implementation. Where certain layouts or interactions needed adjustment for real-world devices, we collaborated on practical solutions while preserving the original design direction.

This helped maintain consistency between the Figma source and the final website.

Responsive Development

Desktop layouts alone were not enough to deliver an accurate production website. Each major section was adapted and tested across desktop, tablet, and mobile breakpoints while maintaining the hierarchy and visual character of the supplied designs. Special attention was given to spacing, typography, imagery, product layouts, navigation, and interactive components.

WooCommerce Implementation

Configured and implemented the WooCommerce functionality required for the website. The eCommerce experience was integrated into the new visual system so that product-related pages remained consistent with the rest of the redesigned interface.

Payment Method Setup

Configured the required payment methods and integrated them with the WooCommerce purchasing experience. The checkout flow was reviewed as part of the implementation to ensure customers could move smoothly from product discovery to payment.

Performance Optimization

After completing the primary development work, I optimized the website for improved frontend performance.

This included work on:

  • Page speed
  • Image optimization
  • Caching
  • CSS and JavaScript delivery
  • Unnecessary frontend assets
  • General WordPress performance
  • Responsive asset behavior

The objective was to retain the visual quality of the Figma implementation without allowing the design to create unnecessary performance overhead.

Technical SEO

The company also had a dedicated SEO team working on the project. My role was to collaborate with that team and implement the required technical and on-page changes within WordPress.

This included areas such as:

  • Heading structure
  • Page structure
  • Metadata implementation
  • Image optimization
  • Technical SEO fixes
  • Indexing-related requirements
  • Sitemap-related configuration
  • Internal website structure

SEO Content & Blog Implementation

SEO content and blog requirements supplied by the company’s team were implemented within the WordPress website. I handled the website-side implementation and formatting to ensure that new content followed the established visual system while also meeting the structural requirements provided by the SEO team.

Team Collaboration

An important part of Tool Standard was working within a broader project team rather than operating independently. I collaborated with the company’s:

UI/UX Designer · SEO Team · Content Stakeholders · Business Team

The UI/UX designer remained involved during implementation, while SEO requirements were coordinated with the specialists responsible for the company’s search strategy. My role was to ensure that the technical WordPress implementation connected these different areas into one consistent production website.

Key Challenge

The main challenge was maintaining the accuracy of a predefined Figma design while turning it into a responsive, functional eCommerce website. A static design can define exactly how a page should appear at a particular screen size, but a production website must work across many devices, dynamic content lengths, WooCommerce states, and user interactions.

The implementation therefore required balancing three priorities:

Design Accuracy · Responsive Usability · Technical Performance

Close collaboration with the UI/UX designer helped preserve the intended visual experience while ensuring that the final website worked effectively outside the Figma environment.

06 / THE OUTCOME

Outcome & results

Tool Standard’s previous website was replaced with a more structured and professionally implemented WordPress/WooCommerce experience based on the company’s approved Figma designs. The final website closely translated the new UI/UX direction into a responsive production environment while adding the eCommerce functionality, payment configuration, performance improvements, and technical SEO implementation required for the business.

The project also demonstrated my ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team — translating a designer’s vision into WordPress while coordinating with SEO and business stakeholders to deliver the final production website.
